Histo Tech Location: Detroit, MI Agency: Mindlance Health Pay: $1,925 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/1/2026 About the Position ID: 75950250 Shift: Afternoon Shift 3-11:30pm M-F Duration: 13 Weeks Interviews: 30-minute MS Teams Description: Job limited supervision performs routine techniques on surgical, autopsy, and research tissue according to standardized procedures. Operates and maintains laboratory instruments and equipment required to perform analysis.Principle Duties And Responsibilities: -Cuts surgical, autopsy, research and neuropathology tissue using a rotary microtome.-Embeds surgical, autopsy, research, and neuropathology tissue.-Stains, coverslips and labels surgical, autopsy, research and neuropathology tissue.-Under supervision, performs special stains according to standardized procedures.-Maintains all equipment and instruments. May demonstrate work to help onboard others.-Mixes and maintains all solutions including stains and special fixatives.-Maintains and records all QC, CAP, QA instrument function and maintenance records.-Maintains a current inventory of all reagents and supplies.-Adheres to Standard Work for all job duties and reports deviations for correction. Participates in data collection and quality improvement efforts.-Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Schedule : 13 Weeks Interviews: 30-minute MS Teams Responsible for embedding, microtomy of surgical specimens and other duties as assigned Minimum Exp: 1 year Education: HS, Associate, or Bachelor Degree Preferred Certification Exp: completion of a NAACLS accredited HT or HTL program Preferred Certification: as a HT (ASCP) or HTL(ASCP)Afternoon Shift 3-11:30pm M-FSkills: Required Skills & Experience:-Vision Near Acuity: Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less.-Depth Perception: Ability to judge distance and space relationships.-Accommodation: Ability to adjust vision to bring objects into focus.-Color Vision: Ability to distinguish and identify different colors necessary to perform job functions.Preferred Skills & Experience:-N/AEducation: Required Education: -Completion of an Associate s Degree with coursework in Anatomy, Biology, and/or Chemistry, OR -Completion of a Bachelor s Degree program in medical technology, medical laboratory sciences, clinical laboratory sciences, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology, OR -A High School Diploma or G.E.D. with two years of relevant laboratory experience in a work, academic, or volunteer capacity. -Coursework completed outside of the US must be verified as by a NACES approved credential evaluation service.
