MI. The Dialysis Technician would be working for a Fortune 500

HighlightsThis position is a contract assignment with potential to
hire on permanently based upon attendance, performance, and
business needsThe required availability for this position is either
4:00 am to 2:30 pm OR 2:30 pm to 9:30 pmDialysis Technician
ResponsibilitiesUnder supervision of nursing personnel, is
responsible for the monitoring and direct care of patients on
hemodialysis. Monitors patients on an ongoing basis and
communicates information to appropriate team member. Works as a
member of the interdisciplinary team caring for the dialysis
patient.Reports to the Dialysis Nurse Manager Monitors patients on
an ongoing basis and communicates information to appropriate team
member.Under supervision of nursing staff, is responsible for the
monitoring and direct care of patients on hemodialysis.Responds in
emergency situations.Maintain BLS per HFHS policy.Reinforces
education to patients.Documents patient care and observations (e.g.
flow sheets, AMA's, incident reports).Follows operational
activities specific to assigned unit, (e.g. call-in times,
breaks).Reports to work in designated attire, (i.e. ID badge, lab
coat, is neat, maintains proper hygiene).Communicates with other
departments, agencies, or service organizations.Carries out
doctors' orders within parameters of role. Adheres rigorously to
all infection control/infection prevention requirements. (eg, hand
hygiene, personal protective equipment, handling of dedicated
supplies, central line catheter care).Responsible for helping
minimize waste in dialysis unit. In conjunction with team members,
monitors and adjusts dialysis therapy within scope of practice to
meet the needs of the patient. Serves as a resource referral for
the patient.Problem-solves for the benefit of the
patients/significant others and the patient care area within scope
of authority. Maintains neat and safe work area.Performs technical
and task-oriented skills (e.g., cannulation, machine set-ups and
disinfection) according to policy.Administer normal saline solution
via the extracorporeal system.Administer per initiation of
hemodialysis procedure 2% xylocaine subcutaneously if ordered by
the physician.Administer via the extracorporeal system and/or via
the cannulated access site the anticoagulant heparin in the dose
prescribed by the physician and monitored by the nursing
staff.d.Instill the anticoagulant (heparin, normal saline or 4%
sodium citrate) as ordered by the physician at discontinuation of
dialysis treatment into each catheter port. Per policy the volume
equals the fill volume on catheter limbs.Performs blood drawing
procedures May be required to take on-call in acute settings.Works
effectively in a complex and changing environment. Completes all
required and assigned in-services and online education and
incorporates the teaching/learning as appropriate to position Is
committed to the mission, vision, values, goals and objectives of
the dialysis program as observed by behavior.Behaves in a manner
designed to contribute to a neat, clean, safe, compliant
environment and appropriately speaks up as needed regarding any
potential concerns.Applies process-improvement principles to daily
work and work area.Adheres to confidentiality and HIPAA safety and
privacy requirements.Actively participate in own learning, performs

RequirementsHemodialysis Technician Certification1 year of
experience as a Dialysis TechnicianHigh School Diploma or
GEDAttendance is mandatory for the first 90 daysDialysis Technician
Preferred Qualifications2 years of experience as a Dialysis
