The Opportunity

The automotive industry is evolving rapidly alongside the dramatic and unprecedented technological shifts in how people live, work and move. Ford is accelerating technical breakthroughs in electrification, connected car technologies and Internet of Things-related products and capabilities with the goal of becoming the world's most trusted mobility company. In this role, you and your team will lead overall leadership in the development and execution of the HR services functions, supporting Ford's overall strategic direction and focusing on the talent acquisition and management, culture management and employee engagement areas. As the HRBO Senior Director, you will provide guidance and consultation to both employees and management within Ford.

To succeed in this role, you will need experience supporting functions and leaders in a large, complex organization. You should have experience working in a strategic capacity within HR and driving complex and long-term goals such as workforce planning, organizational development and learning and development.

The Team

This role will report to the Executive Director, HR Business Operations.

The Senior Director, HRBO will be responsible and accountable for:

  • Providing strategic HR Business Operations support for a business unit executive leadership team.
  • Using strategic HR programs to support Ford's ongoing transformation. Ensuring the company has the talent, skills, business services and support necessary to succeed.
  • Developing and implementing best-in-class talent programs to prepare business units for the future of Ford, using workforce planning and organizational design strategies to get the correct talent into the correct areas within the company. Identify top talent in the market and attract and recruit them to the company. Developing and implementing learning and development, upskilling and other talent management programs to prepare employees.
  • Building a strong working relationship with the management team. Coaching and advising leaders on various HR issues, including terminations, performance management and potential changes to HR laws or regulations.
  • Championing a culture of innovation and growth, using it to keep employees engaged and happy.
  • Supporting executive talent, including acquisition, development and transitions.
  • Leading the HR team for the assigned functions, developing team members into future leaders.
    Knowledge Base & Experience
    • Experience with all functional areas of HR, especially talent, with a strong working knowledge of how each area interacts with business operations and how to advise business leaders proactively in each key function.
    • Track record of benefiting organizations and functions, creating high-performing functions through HR and talent solutions.
    • Experience operating in a large and complex global organization with a size and scope similar to that of Ford.
    • An understanding of how to best support high-level strategic initiatives such as organizational design or workforce planning.
    • Experience in a wide array of industries that have experienced fundamental transformation.
    • History of partnering closely with leaders, working in tandem to support their strategic needs effectively.
    • Knowledge of various well-being programs, keeping employees healthy, motivated and engaged.
    • An understanding of Agile and design thinking principles, as well as the ability to break down and solve problems.

        Qualifications/Requirements
        • Five+ years of management experience in HR, with a minimum of two years in a highly matrixed and decentralized organization with global key stakeholders.
        • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
