Dialysis Technician for a local contract job in Detroit, Michigan.

Patient Care Technician Contract Details - Duration: 13-week
contract with potential to convert based on performance and
availability - Account Number: 5121*OS Temp Personnel Provider
Locum Tenens - Shift Hours: 5x8s: 4:30am-1pm and 12:30pm-8:30pm
shifts available. 12:30pm shift start is priority - Weekend
Requirements: Three Saturday shifts required per 6-week period,
clinic is closed Sundays - On-Call: No call required Unit
Information - Equipment: Fresenius T 2008 machines - Unit Size: 48
chair unit - Average Patient Ratio: 1:4 - EMR System: Time EMR
General Summary Under supervision of nursing staff, is responsible
for the monitoring and direct care of patients on hemodialysis.
Monitors patients on an ongoing basis and communicates information
to appropriate team member. Works as a member of the
interdisciplinary team caring for the dialysis patient. Principal
Duties and ResponsibilitiesPatient Care & Monitoring - Monitors
patients on an ongoing basis and communicates information to
appropriate team member - Under supervision of nursing staff, is
responsible for the monitoring and direct care of patients on
hemodialysis - Responds in emergency situations - Reinforces
education to patients - Treats patients and families with respect
and dignity - Serves as a resource referral for the patient - In
conjunction with team members, monitors and adjusts dialysis
therapy within scope of practice to meet the needs of the patient
(keeping in mind the age-specific needs of the population served)
Documentation & Communication - Documents patient care and
observations (e.g., flow sheets, AMAs, incident reports) -
Communicates with other departments, agencies, or service
organizations - Functions as part of a multidisciplinary team
Technical Skills & Procedures - Demonstrates technical and
task-oriented skills (e.g., cannulation, machine set-ups and
disinfection) - Carries out doctors' orders within parameters of
role - Performs blood drawing procedures Under the Delegation of
the Medical Director and Under Nursing Supervision: - Administer
normal saline solution via the extracorporeal system - Administer
per initiation of hemodialysis procedure 2% xylocaine intradermally
if ordered by the physician - Administer via the extracorporeal
system and/or via the cannulated access site the anticoagulant
heparin or saline in the dose prescribed by the physician and
monitored by the nursing staff - Instill the anticoagulant
(heparin, normal saline or 4% sodium citrate) as ordered by the
physician at discontinuation of dialysis treatment into each
catheter port. Per policy, the volume equals the fill volume on
catheter limbs Operational & Safety - Follows operational
activities specific to assigned unit (e.g., call-in times, breaks)
- Reports to work in designated attire (i.e., ID badge, lab coat,
neat appearance, and maintains proper hygiene) - Follows infection
control policies and procedures (e.g., hand washing, face shield
and gloves) - Responsible for helping minimize waste in assigned
unit - Maintains neat and safe work area - Demonstrates ability to
plan work activities - Demonstrates problem-solving methodologies
for the benefit of the patients/significant others and the patient
care area within scope of authority Quality & Compliance - Adheres
rigorously to all infection control/infection prevention
requirements - Behaves in a manner designed to contribute to a
neat, clean, safe, compliant environment and appropriately speaks
up as needed regarding any potential concerns - Applies
process-improvement principles to daily work and work area -
Adheres to confidentiality and HIPAA safety and privacy
requirements - Demonstrates acceptance of working in a continuous
learning environment; actively participate in own learning, seek to
contribute to team and program learning as appropriate to position
- Completes all required and assigned in-services and online
education and demonstrates incorporation of the teaching/learning
as appropriate to position - Acts in a manner that demonstrates

the dialysis program Teamwork & Communication - Communicates
effectively with supervisor, other charge personnel, and team
members, including medical leadership as appropriate to position.

dialysis program Additional Responsibilities - May be required to
take on-call in acute settings - Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements/nRequired/nHigh School Diploma or GED
equivalent/nMinimum 2 years of clinical Dialysis Tech
experience/nCurrent dialysis clinical technician
licensure/certification (For newly employed patient care
technicians, certification is required within 18 months of being
hired. Certification must be maintained in accordance with federal
regulations and CMS approved national commercially available
certification programs)/nMust pass color vision test/nAbility to
respond to audible alarms/nEnglish language proficiency (Read,
Write, Speak)/nPreferred/nAssociate's Degree in science/nExperience
with Time record system/nExperience with Fresenius
machines/nPrevious travel experience/nPrevious dialysis experience
