Job Summary: Our Insight Psychiatric Hospital is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) to join our medical team. This role will involve evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with psychiatric disorders, particularly those with comorbid neurosurgical or musculoskeletal conditions. The Psychiatric PA will work in close collaboration with psychiatrists, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional care, incorporating mental health assessments into broader treatment plans to enhance patient outcomes. The role will focus on delivering compassionate care, prescribing medications, and managing patients' psychiatric needs within a comprehensive care model. Benefits for our Full Time Team Members: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage Paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and sick leave 401K with Matching; offerings vested fully @ 3 months of employment paired with eligibility to contribute Short & Long Disability, and Life Term insurance, complementary of Full Time Employment Additional Supplementary coverages offered @ employee's elections: Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, AD&D, etc. Job Duties: Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including initial and follow-up assessments of patients' mental health and overall well-being Diagnose and manage a variety of psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders, and other behavioral health conditions Develop comprehensive treatment plans for psychiatric conditions, prescribing medications as appropriate, and managing pharmacological treatments Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to integrate mental health care into holistic treatment plans for patients, particularly those undergoing neurosurgery and rehabilitation Provide counseling and psychotherapy services, as needed, and help patients develop coping strategies Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing psychiatric symptoms Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary, and maintaining clear documentation of all patient interactions Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide timely intervention as needed Ensure adherence to medical ethics, confidentiality, and patient privacy standards Stay current with advancements in psychiatric practices, neuroscience, and healthcare regulations Participate in hospital committees, case reviews, and quality improvement initiatives Promote teamwork and collaboration among medical staff to achieve optimal patient care Other assigned duties Required Qualifications: Graduation from an ARC-PA-accredited Physician Assistant program. Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant license issued by the State of Michigan. DEA registration (or ability to obtain) for prescribing controlled substances. Ability to work within a physician-supervised practice agreement as required by Michigan law. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings. Completion of a postgraduate psychiatry fellowship or residency program. Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry issued by the NCCPA. Experience working in inpatient psychiatric settings or with severe and persistent mental illness populations. Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and telepsychiatry platforms. Physical Requirements: May be expected to lift or assist with lifting patients up to 50 pounds or up to 150 pounds with assistance Work is of moderate physical demand, with long periods of standing, walking, and sitting Visual and auditory acuity necessary for patient care and documentation Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and healthcare teams Ability to manage physical, emotional, and stressful demands in the workplace Exposure to medical environments, including potential exposure to infectious agents and hazardous materials Insight is an equal opportunity employer and values workplace diversity!
