Job Description Description A Brief Overview Provides and plans
safe efficient age specific nursing care for patients/families
related to lactation services. What You Will Do - Patient
care/assessment; (20%) - Lactation program operations; (15%) -
Communication and collaboration; (10%) - Leadership; (5%) -
Involved in learning and self-improvement; (5%) - Age specific
knowledge. (5%) Additional Responsibilities - Performs other duties
as assigned. - Complies with all policies and standards. - For
specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation
provided by the department during orientation. - Must abide by all
requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health
Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of
Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address
appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Qualifications Education -
Other Accredited Program: Diploma in Nursing (Required) or - (ADN)
Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required) - (BSN) Bachelor's Degree
in Nursing (Preferred) Work Experience - 1 years Experience in
assisting breastfeeding mothers, particularly in the inpatient
setting. (Required) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Knowledge of
needs of antepartal and postpartal mother. (Required proficiency) -
Experience in assisting breastfeeding mothers, particularly in the
inpatient setting. (Required proficiency) - Evidence of ongoing
continuing education and professional development. (Required
proficiency) - Uses selected technical (lactation) and office
equipment (e.g., fax, computer, telephone) to meet patient and
family needs. (Required proficiency) Licenses and Certifications -
Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License
(Required Upon Hire) - Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent
(Required) - Completion of lactation educator training program with
current certification (Required) and - Must apply to sit for the
IBCLC exam within 6 months of hire (Required within 6 Months) and -
Successfully pass the IBCLC exam (Required within 1 Year) Physical
