the Position Job Title: Radiology Interventional Technologist
Profession: Radiology Interventional Technologist Specialty: -
Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. – 5:00
p.m.; must be available for after-hours on-call support, Monday.
Hours per Shift: 40.00 Experience: Minimum years of experience not
specified. License: Must be registered with the American Registry
of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in one
of the following: - Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI) -
Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) -
Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography (CV) Certifications: Must
maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BLS). Must-Have: -
Operate power injectors. - Understand and work with guidewires. -
Perform stent grafting, including emergency procedures. - Work
independently/solo as needed. - Be a self-starter. Description:
Under the direction of a Radiologist, specializes in the
performance of procedures of an invasive nature to aid in the
evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.
Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients
for the examination. Obtains additional information about the
patient's medical history as necessary. Prepares prescribed
contrast mediums, medications, and IV solutions for administration
to patients. Reviews clinical data on requisition and analyzes the
anatomical structure of the patient. Sets up equipment following
protocols and assists Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic
invasive procedures. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment,
physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment
required for the procedure. Ensures that adequate supplies such as
needles, catheters, etc., are on hand and properly stored.
Replenishes supplies as appropriate. Actively assesses the
patient's condition before, during, and following all procedures.
Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic
information for the area of the body being studied. May assist with
the training of new personnel and/or students who are assigned to
the division. Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating the
principles of radiation protection, which may involve shielding of
patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce
dose using other ALARA techniques. Resolves any all image
exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery. Completes all
study indexing, including study begin, study end, and the
completion of the study in the Radiology Information System.
Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the Radiologist before
performing studies. Demonstrates Team Member Standards of
Excellence including open communication, responding in a timely
manner, displaying a positive attitude, fostering innovation, and
respecting diversity. Performs Quality Assurance procedures as
appropriate. Documents in the medical record as necessary and
within the radiology information system to support all clinical
functions. Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate
imaging techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices.
