Responsibilities
Ghafari Associates is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to
join the team. This role will support global projects and report to
a manager out of the Dearborn, MI office.*
Candidates can choose to be FULLY REMOTE, HYBRID, or 100% IN OFFICE
in any of our following offices:
BIRMINGHAM , AL
CHICAGO, IL
DALLAS/FT. WORTH, TX
DEARBORN, MI
GRAND RAPIDS, MI

General Summary:
The Senior Structural Engineer E5, with limited supervision from
the Director of Engineering and/or Manager of Structural
Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational and
communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated
construction documents for structural systems.
Essential Job Functions:
Review and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and
design approach with Manager of Structural Engineering, Project
Manager and/or client
Perform as project lead engineer for larger projects, managing the
production effort of staff assigned to the project in terms of
quality, budget, and schedule
Keep current with latest code publications and apply in everyday
analysis as applicable
Ability to formulate firm, well-reasoned opinions based on sound
engineering principles.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in
the production of drawings and models
Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify
existing conditions
Prepare construction documents e.g. drawings and specifications
Communicate with other disciplines to produce well-coordinated
construction documents
Review shop drawing submittals to assure design intent is met.
Maintain project files containing project calculations,
correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items
Communicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering
and Project Manager
Mentor less experienced engineers
Use available structural computer programs to enhance productivity
and verify results with manual checks
Performs related duties as assigned
*Professional Engineering License is required for this role
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering,
or other related field required; Master's degree preferred
Professional Registration; S.E. preferred
Experience
Skills/Competencies:
Analysis: RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000 preferred
Drafting: AutoCAD and Revit
